Senior HR Consultant
Location: Liverpool, North West (with travel across sites as required)
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000pa DOE
We are looking for an experienced and confident Senior HR Consultant to join the HR function of this well-established organisation in a strategic, hands-on advisory role. This position operates as a trusted HR partner, providing expert guidance across the full employee lifecycle and supporting leaders through complex people challenges, organisational change and strategic workforce initiatives.
You will work closely with senior stakeholders, acting as the primary HR advisor.. The role requires strong judgement, commercial awareness and the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical, legally compliant solutions in a fast-paced environment.
The Role
- Act as the lead HR advisor, building strong relationships and developing a deep understanding of operational and commercial priorities.
- Provide accurate, pragmatic HR and employment law advice across a wide range of people matters.
- Manage complex and high-risk employee relations cases end to end, including disciplinaries, grievances, investigations, appeals, TUPE, restructures, redundancy programmes, performance management and long-term absence.
- Attend sites to support hearings, consultations, investigations, mediations and manager coaching.
- Contribute to the development and delivery of HR strategies, workforce planning initiatives, organisational change programmes and culture development activity.
- Draft and review contracts, handbooks, HR policies, scripts, letters, investigation reports and settlement documentation.
- Support wider HR projects and initiatives as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential:
- CIPD Level 5 (minimum)
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice
- Proven experience managing complex ER casework independently
- Ability to advise and influence confidently at senior level
- Excellent written skills, including drafting formal and legally robust documentation
- Ability to work at pace across multiple priorities
- Confident using a range of IT, digital and online systems
- Full clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the North West
Desirable:
- CIPD Level 7 or working towards it
