Interim Finance Manager (Charity Sector)
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Contract: Interim / Fixed-Term Contract
Rate: £350–£400 per day (Inside IR35)
Duration: 3 months initially
Start Date: ASAP
This role is mostly on-site in Newcastle.
The Organisation
A well-established charity based in Newcastle is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Manager to support the organisation through a period of operational change and financial transformation. The charity delivers vital services across the North East and is looking for a hands-on finance professional who can provide stability, oversight, and strategic support to the senior leadership team.
The Role
Reporting directly to the Finance Director, the Interim Finance Manager will oversee day-to-day financial operations while supporting ongoing process improvements and ensuring strong financial governance across the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Managing monthly management accounts and financial reporting
- Overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and cashflow management
- Supporting year-end audit preparation and liaising with external auditors
- Managing a small finance team and ensuring smooth transactional processing
- Reviewing and improving financial controls and processes
- Providing financial insight to non-finance stakeholders
- Supporting grant reporting and restricted fund management
- Assisting with finance system improvements and project work
The Candidate
The successful candidate will ideally be:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified (or equivalent)
- Experienced within the charity, not-for-profit, or public sector environment
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced interim role
- Strong technically with excellent stakeholder management skills
- Experienced managing teams and improving financial processes
- Available to start at short notice
- Experience with charity accounting, fund accounting, and knowledge of SORP would be highly advantageous.
